A new site
Since you're reading this, you have obviously found your way to my new site. Most likely this is because I gave you the url and with some force dragged you here.
Alternatively, you somehow got here from my webcomic, Chasing the Sunset, in which case you may be wondering why I started this new site. After all, the old site had a blog and a picture gallery as well. My reasons are, as always, multiple and dubious.
For starters, I've always felt rather uncomfortable using the comic site for non-comic purposes. Sure it gave my rantings a free audience, but really those people weren't there for me. In the end this was restricting me and I found myself avoiding posting blog items or pictures. Clearly, I needed some room for my own, and audiences be damned.
Which brings me to another reason: our aim on the comic has always been to be pretty safe for kids which brought another restriction in both topics I could discuss, pictures I could show and even words I could use. That is not to say this site will become R-rated or anything, but I may raise the level to PG-13 (where the comic is PG/All).
A third reason is that the comic site wasn't the best place for people to go to find out about me. Not that anybody really has that desire, but I felt I needed/wanted a site I could send people to that was about the things I did beyond the comic (mostly photography). This includes family.
A fourth reason is that I wanted to write some photo-journals about trips Siri and I have taken and the comic site was simply not a good place for that.
So that's my reasons and now I join the many millions of people with a blog that gets a handful of visitors each month :)
