Trip preparation taking shape
In the past few weeks, preparations for the trip to Africa have progressed considerably. Money has been changed, supplies have been bought, arrangements have been made. In fact even though it's still two months till departure, the list of things that need doing has shrunk to just a handful: need insurance, some new sleeping bags, maybe a few extra shirts and pants. Even my photography gear is complete, with some extra compactflash cards, a reflector set and a remote control arriving fresh from e-bay. Some extra AA batteries for my flash are due any day now, but that, really, is all.
On thursday Siri and I will be starting a first aid course, which will finish right before we leave.Likewise we've started working out a bit to get into shape (Siri needing that more than me).
I'm trying to get everything as right as possible for this trip. We have called other trips a "trip of our live". The previous africa trip and before that the trip to italy and greece. This one however, at 6 weeks of Safari is going to be impossible to beat until we get a lot older and who knows what shape the world is in then.
I hope everything goes right. I hope I give Siri a memory that will shine so brightly it will still make her smile when we're old and gray. I hope ... but I will give hope a nudge in the back where it needs it.
